Contract Management - Modernization of Rolling Mill Plant

Problem

Our client, an international Greek steel producer, was revamping and modernising a rolling mill plant. The project was halted because of difficulties related to the repair of a hydraulics valve. The company's on-site personnel did not have the required expertise and experience to fix the problem. They urgently needed a hydraulics expert with specialised skills and experience with this kind of equipment. The repair was critical to ensuring that the project would be completed on time and on budget.

Solved

Ergonos identified an expert, freelance hydraulics consultant with a proven track record. During his career, he had already encountered and resolved hydraulics problems in rolling mill plants. We contracted with the independent consultant, organised all the administrative tasks related to his departure and delivered the consultant to the rolling mill site in Greece.

The Results

The client company managed to keep the revamping of the rolling mill plant on schedule and on budget. They avoided the costs that a long delay would have presented either as a result of an arduous employment search or for their staff to learn the requisite skills to attempt to resolve the problems. They also did not incur any additional fixed labour costs by employing a hydraulics experts full time when the need was immediate and short-term.
